Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool Submit Offer for £85m Hugo Ekitike – Striker Keen on Anfield Switch

Liverpool’s pursuit of a new striker has taken a significant step forward, with trusted journalist Fabrizio Romanoconfirming that the Premier League champions have submitted an official offer to Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike.

While the initial bid has been rejected, talks between the two clubs are ongoing — and crucially, the 22-year-old forward has already agreed personal terms and wants the move.

“Eintracht already informed Liverpool that they want more. Proposal rejected but it was initial contact as talks continue,” Romano reported.

    Ekitike Says Yes to Liverpool

One of the key elements driving this potential transfer is the player’s enthusiasm. According to Romano, Ekitike has given his full approval to the move, with no issues on personal terms.

“Ekitike said yes to Liverpool. No issues on personal terms. He wants #LFC.”

Ekitike, once hailed as one of France’s top emerging talents, endured a difficult spell at Paris Saint-Germain, but has rebuilt his reputation with a strong season at Eintracht Frankfurt. His form has reignited interest from top European clubs — with Liverpool now leading the race.

What Ekitike Offers Arne Slot’s Liverpool

At 6’2″, Ekitike brings a blend of physical presence, technical ability, and intelligent movement. While he is most effective as a central striker, he can also operate out wide — a trait that fits well with Arne Slot’s fluid attacking system.

With uncertainty surrounding the long-term futures of Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz, the addition of Ekitike would give Liverpool greater attacking depth and flexibility, as well as a long-term option with significant potential.

Valuation Gap Remains – But Optimism Grows

Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly value Ekitike at around £85 million, while Liverpool’s first offer is said to fall short of that amount. However, with the player pushing for the move and both parties continuing discussions, there is growing optimism that a deal will be struck.

Liverpool are expected to return with an improved offer as the club accelerates its recruitment strategy following their Premier League title triumph.

Anfield Index View: A Statement of Intent

From a fan perspective, Liverpool’s move for Hugo Ekitike represents more than just a transfer — it’s a statement of intent. The club appears determined to build on their recent success under Arne Slot by adding youthful, high-potential talent.

Ekitike’s hunger to succeed and redeem himself after a turbulent PSG stint makes him a compelling prospect. Under Slot’s guidance, there’s belief he can develop into a key figure in Liverpool’s attack, combining with the likes of Salah, Díaz, and Szoboszlai.

Importantly, Liverpool are moving with speed and purpose this summer — a refreshing shift from previously drawn-out negotiations. With Romano confirming both the offer and Ekitike’s commitment, it feels like only a matter of timebefore the Reds land their next big-name striker.
