Premier League Transfer Rumors: Xavi Simons Linked with Chelsea Move; Manchester United Eye New Striker

    By PLN6 days ago
    Xavi Simons

As the new Premier League season approaches, transfer activity is heating up across England’s top clubs. Both Chelsea and Manchester United are actively pursuing reinforcements to strengthen their squads before the 2025/26 campaign kicks off.

Chelsea Target Xavi Simons as Attacking Reinforcement

According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Dutch international Xavi Simons has shown interest in joining Chelsea, potentially opening the door to a high-profile switch from RB Leipzig. Additional reports from Sky Germany confirm that discussions are ongoing between Chelsea and the Bundesliga side regarding a deal for the 22-year-old.

Simons has built an impressive résumé across stints with Paris Saint-Germain, PSV Eindhoven, and RB Leipzig. Known for his intelligent movement, creativity in tight spaces, and composure in front of goal, Simons could be a natural fit in Enzo Maresca’s tactical system.

Whether deployed as a central attacking midfielder or in a more fluid wide role, his versatility and technical ability could make him a key figure alongside Cole Palmer.

With Noni Madueke already sold and Nicolas Jackson rumored to be on the move, Chelsea are eager to secure another forward to bolster their ranks. Despite already having an overcrowded attack, Simons fits the club’s youth-focused recruitment model. If the financial terms align, this could be a smart acquisition for the Blues.

Manchester United Prioritize Signing a New Striker

Manchester United are now turning their full attention to signing a top-class number nine, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. With recent attacking additions Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo already completed, the Red Devils remain in the market for a clinical finisher to lead the line.

United have shown past interest in several names, including Hugo Ekitike—who appears to be heading to Liverpool—and Viktor Gyokeres, reportedly bound for Arsenal. The club is also monitoring Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, and Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

However, the high price tags attached to these targets are currently a stumbling block, with United reportedly shifting focus to alternative, more financially viable options.

These developments may signal a wider overhaul in United’s attacking setup. Young forwards like Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund could be on their way out, as manager Ruben Amorim looks to reshape his offensive strategy in pursuit of a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.

Stay tuned as both clubs continue to push for key additions before the transfer window closes.
